How It Works

Regardless of the program, our first step will always be an assessment and consultation either in person or via technology(Skype, Hangouts, Facebook,  etc).  This is Rod’s first and best opportunity to see where you’re coming from more clearly and helps you to identify goals, potential challenges and the best attack to get you there. This usually includes a multidimensional goal setting questionnaire, a medical history intake; initial physical measurements of body fat, waist/hip, weight, test muscle endurance, muscle imbalances, posture, and your flexibility. Personal health and fitness or physical wellness is only a slice of the total wellness pie, but it can be said that it connects all other areas of wellness together from emotional and mental wellness to intellectual and occupational wellness.

We will also discover and discuss your food cravings, water intake, food consumption, sleep patterns and current activity level; and a thorough evaluation of your short and long-term goals while looking ahead at any threats to finally achieving your goals.   A proper initial assessment is essential to achieving your personal goals and the best method to take to get there. Any Health or wellness pro who doesn’t offer an assessment or a consult is someone you want to run from, not hire! For example, without having a good evaluation of how you feel and function with your body weight and discussion on how you even got there to begin with, there is no way a fitness coach can design a specific program catered to your needs as a client. You do want the best results, right?

An assessment is one of the most important steps and tools used in designing your health, fitness and/or nutrition program.

The following is a description of how the physical wellness component would go after a consultation and assessment:

A typical physical training session is usually around a half-hour long, but can be shorter or longer, dependent upon the program, your goals, and your package.

After stretching and warming up your tight muscles, it is time to get you the results you want! Your individualized exercise prescription will determine which activities will get your body the best results, so for the next 30 to 40 minutes, we will incorporate weight training, free weights, Swiss balls, cables, core/balance boards,  boxing/kickboxing, and many other training modalities that will get you the fastest results as safely as possible, guaranteed while increasing self-efficacy and confidence to power through to the finish.

Physiology coupled with the right psychology (mentality,  mindset or culture) are key parts of the equation for your total success.

Mental/skull sessions are offered at the end of the week, over the phone or in person allow us the opportunity to see what was successful and what areas to focus on for the next week. We also discuss how that week’s success(or failure) impacts your other areas of wellness.

Fitness and health professionals utilize all kinds of equipment and training techniques to help you keep progressing for maximal results as quickly as safely possible   In addition to your postural and core work, you will be given full-body stretching and instruction to improve your muscle flexibility and help reduce your soreness(and keep you from cursing me).

FYI: You should never feel extremely sore the day of or the day following your training session. Overworking to the point of extreme soreness only delays your results(and negatively impacts us emotionally and mentally), but a little tightness here and there is OK and to be expected.   I recommend some trigger-point, soft-tissue, and massage work on off-days. Your sessions are never dull, but rather always upbeat and fun, educating. I want you to enjoy exercise and movement as much as possible, and you should always leave feeling better and more energized. Everyday you get better, I will get better. I have the tips and strategies to help you enjoy the HEALTH out of life!
